R107 Fuel Injector Pressure Damper Cage

I've an '83 380SL and am replacing the rear fuel system (e.g. pump, filter, accumulator, etc.) but have been having an awful time trying to find a Damper Cage...

MB Part #A1264700116

I've inquired at the dealer (no luck) also with reports of "zero available in Germany".

Performed a Google Search and followed all the links on (at least) the first 8 page results and even checked EBay...again, all with zero luck.

Might any of you know of someone or a repair house that has a spare?

Thank you in advance!
Christopher

Does seem that part is not available new. OE ones had the Meyle name on them. But Meyle doesn't seem to list them either. I have seen them on eBay. You might try the Euro eBay and used SL parts sites.

Does your's NEED to be replaced? It is just an empty chamber with an integral diaphragm on one side. Takes out slight pulsations and redeuces pump noise. Nothing to fail unless it rusts out.

It seems that on the 560SL, MB abandoned the damper cage. They appear to have an elbow with one additional connection. Part 1264700062. Perhaps that could be adapted if the hose sizes are the same?

Hello Graham...genuinely appreciate the guidance...as I'm replacing all the other components I was simply inclined to replace the Damper as well. I've no reason to believe it's failed and thankfully it's not (yet) rusted out. Again, many thanks!
