560 sl 1986 will not start

iv been going nuts triing to FIG it out replaced relay in
clove box still no start
I can here the pump in the back go on .All it dose it acts like no gas
I put some fuel in Top and still no start act like nothing any great ideas

driving me nuts

Just went through this. Twice. Ignition Control Unit, I'll bet. Front driver side fender. Bought a Hueco unit lasted about a year, then died.
Just bought Programa remanufactured Bosche for $80.
Cranked right up.

If you're dumping fuel down the intake and it isn't starting, you don't have a fuel problem, you have an ignition problem.

Start by checking your spark and seeing if you actually have any. When was the last time the cap and rotor were replaced on the distributor? I'll echo the above suggestion regarding the EZL, the one in my SL failed outright.
