Looking for 500SL handyman/mechanic in LV, nevada or Toronto Canada

Hi guys,

I'm a former Canadian car dealer (wholesaler) that has been out of the business already 2 decades. I Spend half my time in Las Vegas Nevada and the other in Toronto Canada.

I'm in Las Vegas until Mid July and looking for a mechanic/handy person that understands this car (want to do some work on the car). Then driving car back to Toronto, Canada.

Would appreciate help in finding competent and reasonably priced mechanic.

Ron

Also try posting this in the tech section as there are some mechanics scattered across the US there.

Posting the year and what you are looking to have done might help.

You may get some help for both locations from these links:

In Toronto, some years back I dealt with Arthur at Eurocars , 45 Algie Ave in Etobicoke. He replaced engine on my 300D and replaced cracked manifold on my 350SL. In above link McNally in North York seems to be highly thought of.

Thanks,

It's a 1991 Mercedes 500SL

The most predominant issue I have is when you open and close the roof there is a (hydraulic fluid) leak from behind passenger door (just in front of rear wheel).

Someone on this list was selling rebuild kits for the hyd cylinders. There are 12 if I recall correctly with later cars having 11. They go bad on all cars and every cylinder will end up needing a rebuild. Most of the work is pulling the cylinders, changing the seals is easy.

Be sure to get seals that are made for this car as there are some sellers moving generic o rings.

I keep the hard top on my car year round and used manual operation with I pulled the hard top for a soft top inspection.
