Gas fumes and tank pressure build up - 72 350 sl
I have just replaced the fuel pump and have solved my gas leak problem. I now have a strong gas fume odor in the trunk and pressure build up in the gas tank. So much pressure after filling up the tank and driving 10 miles or so, I unscrewed the cap and gas came out like removing a radiator cap of a over heated engin. Any clues as to what could be the problem?

You will need to access the vent lines at and around the tank and replace them. Many times these deteriorate with age. There is also a vent that exits under the car that can become clogged On my 72 it was above the left rear axle. The other vent lines you can get to through the trunk and under the covertible boot area

I wondered why you had not jumped in. Glad to hear you are still at it. Cheers!:)

Guys thanks for responding. I'm just reaching out to as broad a audience as I can find. Living in rural mid-west america I don't get a lot of help from the locals. Again thanks for shearing your knowledge.
