Help with leather seat

The front bottom parts of my 560SL seats are getting ripped.

Can they be fixed somehow?

The pic shows the passenger side. The driver side is in similar condition.

Do the coverking covers go on top of the existing leather
or
do they replace the existing leather?

I called the hotline but didn't get a clear answer.
