R107 hardtop with a steel sliding sunroof

Hey guys,

Many years ago, when I had a nice 85 280SL, I bought a hardtop with an aftermarket (non factory) sliding steel sunroof panel.

Never got around to doing anything with it......

Now, the 280SL belongs to a friend of mine, and I'm in the process of getting rid of the 3 parts Sls, the last one remaining is an 85 380SL, which has this top on it.

The top has rust at the bottom, and would be an ambitious project to restore, but hey, have you seen another?

You'd have to come an get it, shipping would be pretty high.

I hate to junk the car with this top on it.......but......it may happen.

I paid a buck and a half for it years ago, but I'd rather see someone get before it's junked, and I could refit the fabric top and throw a tarp over it for the duration if you just want the top.
Price, well look at my last name. Though, some beer would also be nice!

Post #3 of this old thread has pics of the top....

I'd say the top deserves a wider audience given it isn't a common item.

If a factory top was modified rather than a complete custom, reworking a rust free top may be a better solution than a resto.

I was really bummed out that Jason didn’t bring that hard top home with him in my truck.

I really wanted to see it and lay my hand on it.

I tried to get him to swap out the tops......
I think he was anxious to get back on the road.
