Probe in blower motor area....?

I'm just getting into SL's through a friend of mine who is toying with one. We were replacing the blower motor when we ran across a probe of some type that we had to remove in order to replace the blower fan assembly.

This was right in the middle of the box that holds the blower assembly, up high and to the front of the box. It is held in by two screws. It has an electrical connection to it. And it has no part number anywhere.

What is this thing? Some sort of temp probe for the climate control?

I'll give you a chance to guess what question I am thinking of asking.

I though about posting a photo. I was wondering if there was anyone here sharp enough to know the answer without seeing a photo.

Apparently not.

***Crystal ball hazy. Please try again***

What year/chassis SL? The R107 alone was built for nearly 20 years with several different HVAC systems. It usually helps to know what year you're dealing with.

I looked at several R107s, 1972- 1986. North American and ROTW models. None had what you describe. The only model I did not check was one with ACCII.

As stated you need to post model info. Picture would also help. Did you check the wiring diagram?

Probably too busy thinking the rest of us are idiots for not answering his question. Too bad Ms. Cleo passed away, she probably had the answer.

Sounds like a blower motor resistor. Not familiar with SL’s but sounds about right.
