Diseasel, you've given me more help than I deserve but here I am again, hat in hand. Any tips on how to (easiest way) to remove the silver box? There are a number of other boxes directly in front of it. Do I remove the under the glovebox paneling etc as well as the glovebox and the 12 pin electrical lines, do they unplug en mass as in as one plug? Thanks
George

It's been a while since I did my SL, but I just removed the glove box and went in through there. Took a phillips screwdriver to remove the retention screws, I used a 24" screwdriver, made life a LOT easier than trying to get my hands down in there. Each module in that area has its own plug, you should be able to remove screws and move things around to get access. Having small hands helps (something I do not possess).

Thanks again, Diseasel300. I bought a used temp regulator (silver box module) on Ebay from a fellow out in California,(pride autowrecking) put it in and it seems to have done the trick. I also packaged up my old one and sent it to Kris Rose for the overhaul thinking that at some point in time, I might need it again.

When the silver box gets flaky it can seriously make you question your sanity! If the used box hasn't been rebuilt, it too will fail sooner rather than later. Next time you get a hiccup in behavior of the climate control system, swap in your rebuilt one and it'll operate like new.

Diseasel, if I haven't already thanked you, thank you for pointing me in Kris Rose's direction. Initially sent him the temp regulator for repair last year and just last week got back the climate control module c/w buttons, temp and blower switches I'd sent him a week and a half before. Fast turnaround. Works like brand new too!

Kris does excellent work. I'd never hesitate to send someone his direction. Having a working climate control is just the frosting on the cake!
