2006 500sl top issues

I am trying to open the convertible top but it stops 1/2 way down. I turn the engine off, let the hydraulic press to relieve and then I raise the top back up by hand. Activate the raising and closes the trunk/cover. Does anyone have info on how to fix the problem? Thanks.

I don't know this model specifically, however something like this is generally a limit switch problem. RE: The controller is waiting for something to be in a safe / proper position.

Figure out what is supposed to happen after the top is at 1/2 position and look there.

Thanks. it makes sense because there is a couple of switches on the side covers that need to be tripped at some point for the process to continue. I guess.

The flaps at the corners of the deck lid are the most common failure (other than hydraulic leaks) on the R230...…….
