Replaced both pumps with new OEM Bosch. Installed rebuilt FPR from ProgRamma. No pump noise anymore and seems to run fine.....so far. Thanks all!!

Glad it fixed it! What was probably happening was the pump was burning out and started sucking more juice through the relay.

Take her on the highway and see if she stalls. Just be close to the right lane just in case.

Been there, got the tee-shirt. Change the crankshaft position sensor. On my '86 420 SEL, it was a green cable from the ignition control box, drivers' side fender well, to the bell housing.
When it gets hot it will quit; after it cools down some it will start back working again (usually).

Min has two new Bosch pumps and does pretty-much the same thing. I ordered a new fpr. I notice that as it progresses restarts become more difficult. Open the hood and let it cool 5 mins, and it starts and will go for a while. Seems to be temperature-dependent.

My ‘88 is doing this and it has a brand-new pair of Bosch pumps. The dying seems to be temp related.new fuel pump relay also.
