107 riding low to pavement

have 1985 280sl.
Lately i am scraping driveways etc.
How high is the muffler etc supposed to be off pavement?

I have a little over 3" of clearance to ground
To raise clearance I am guessing I would need to replace shocks/struts?

The rear end is a little bouncy but front end is pretty stiff
Thanks

Shocks and springs. The R/C107 does not have struts. Are all of the hangers intact?

Yes hangers are ok

is it normal to replace springs at same time as shocks?

BTW, Rowdie, I sure do thank you for your advise on past issues

Look up this vid on You tube , " Sir Mix-A-Lot , Posse' On Broadway "

And remember " . . . We're in the black Benz limo with the cellular phone . . . . and the 50 series tires. . .the AMG kit keeps us closer to the ground .. "

Not normal to always change both at the same time but the car is 35 years old and springs will start sagging. Shocks only last about 30K to 40K miles depending on how you drive.

It really is not normal to replace springs at all. But 30+ year old cars it starts to become likely.
