Going to Look at a '92 600 SL

If the seller ever calls me back anyway.

I skimmed the first 20 pages of this forum. I didn't see much about the V12 models. Any special items to check, in addition to the usual old car things?

Never mind. The seller can't find the title.

Found another one. This time a '94. I'm thinking something in the ballpark of $500. While I was waiting for this one to pop up I went to California and looked at a Jaguar XJS. I ended up passing due to lack of recent use or cooling system maintenance. Also there was a BMW 750iL on the far side of Sacramento that someone else got to before me.

Actually there are threads on this forum about the V12. Some folks swear by them - but most swear at them. Expensive to maintain and hard to keep running right.

I would focus on the 1996-2000 model years, especially 1997-1998.
Not the V12 and not those with the adjustable suspension.
I driven the 4-speed AT and the 5-speed AT - much prefer the 5-speed AT.

I think the 1993-1995 R129's have problems with decaying wiring insulation.

You might find a real deal in one with a problematic TOP, dealers want a fortune for them but for $500 or so you can replace all 11 valves yourself.

I went back to the add to call the guy and got: "This posting has been deleted by it's author"

I'm expecting Tyler Hoover to put up a video soon about how he bought the cheapest SL600 in America.

I'm not so much after an SL as I am a cheap V-12. Having it in a sports car body would be a plus though.
