1995 129067 Ignition Assembly Replacement
Hi all, I need to know the pitfalls in completely replacing the igntition key assembly when the remote key is missing. The situation is the car was stolen and the entire steering lock stalk complete with ignition barrel and switch was pulled out and thrown away by the thief. So now all I have is a bunch of wires hanging down with cut ends. I can get all replacement parts but of course the infra red remote key won't work as it is not coded to the car. What other parts do I need to get it to work?

Sounds like your best bet is to find a junker donor and get what you need from that. Number one most important thing to know about that setup is that you do not turn the steering lock out of "position 1" without the locking bolt/pin inserted. If you do, it is worthless and will never function again. When I pull them out I immediately put the pin back into it and thread the nut on a few turns and leave it that way until I'm ready to reinstall it.

Steering Lock
Thanks for the reply. I will get the whole steering column as the lock stalk has been broken off the housing!

The IR remote can be reprogrammed to the car. Generally it is 2x presses of the remote to signal " be ready to accept a new remote " then turning the ignition on to accept it.
