door glass bottom rail & rubber

i am fitting a new bottom rail & rubber to my old door glass on my 1987 R107 does any one know if i bond the rubber into the bottom rail or just fit dry same with the glass to the rubber please

I've never had any luck refitting the rubber trim between the rail and glass. I cut and use strips from the old rubber as a shock absorber/spacer, wedge it between and under the glass and fill with the 3M window urethane.

3M 08609 Window-Weld Super Fast Urethane Black Cartridge or the 3M 08693 (not fast setting).
