1983 Euro 500sl: what size battery to buy?
 

Guys, this is my first post on this forum, and I’ve been searching like a madman.

I bought a relative’s Euro 500sl. It’s going to need some work, including a new battery. I bought a group 49 size, thinking that, if that battery fit a 380sl, it would fit this car. No dice. It’s way too big.

I got the part number for a Mercedes battery, and I could go that route. I’ve been searching through BaT for a closeup of a battery, but that’s slim pickings too. One of those car from the auction has an H5.

Can anyone help?

Yes Frank! I’ve found this tool helpful in many…arenas.

The extra battery in my garage is 8 inches tall. Too tall.

Use the Interstate Battery website to determine the correct group size battery for your 500SL.

It's a H6 battery

BWhitmore, I tried to search the Interstate website for a 500sl battery. They only had the 380sl as an option. I’m going to try an H6 next.
