Final piicture.

This is the final picture, but no doubt the most dramatic. The SL doesnt even look like a real car, looks like a Matchboy car......

Perhaps they are testing the panoramic (glass) hard top. When was that available, '98?

I doubt that they will use a 600 for a test like that. That probably a 280. They seemed to be testing the characteristics of roll over, and not speed related damage. Then again, I may be wrong. None the less hate to see a perfectly good SL crashed up. But at least I know my car has the know-how that comes from those test results

Unhappy sniff sniff

After seeing those pictures I cried. I'd have taken the thing off their hands...even if it was a hideous colour!

Seriously...glad they sacrifice even the expensive ones to make sure we're safe!

Those wheels look like the 560SL wheels. What wheels did the '90 SLs come with?

The wheels look right for that year. The car looks pre-96. Those wheels were used from '89 to '94. Look at the grilles on the side. They change to two slot grille in '96 and this one has three slots. Notice the side mirrors too, they are more square than the post '96 model. Another indication its an earlier car is the front grille. It has 7 slots and the newer model has 6. Unless my eyes are failing me.

That is definitely a pre-facelift model. see the side slits and the mirrors. Those wheels look to me to be standard issue late W126 S-class saloons.
