removal of parcel shelf , & carpet issues

Would appreciate knowing just how to remove parcel shelf from behind seats in my 107 (1897, 560SL) without doing any damage.

Also, does anyone have any experience with obtaining individual carpet pieces for replacement. My interior is tobacco (dark) brown and most of it has been replaced, but two sections are faded to a light brown. Maybe dyeing is a possibility; any ideas appreciated.

Thanks,

parcel shelf

My 76 450-SL has the same type of parcel shelf (I think), and I fashioned a small hook to insert at the rear edge and lift, there are 2 metal straps that hold the front edge with tension and with the rear edge lifted simply push the front edge to the rear and lift it out. When I removed my shelf for the first time I found seat belts installed under it. Who knows what you'll find. Good luck
Bob

I ordered original MB carpet material from the folks at 800-722-2292 or 818-767-6242. Can't recall the name of the company, but it's located in Hollywood, CA. It's $55.00 a yard which is actually 36" x 60". I thought it was a pretty good deal after looking at numerous other places.

SL Dark Brown Carpet

Check on ebay. There is a used entire set of brown carpet out of a 380SL. It doesn't look faded.

Removal of parcel shelf in 107

A trim shop solved the question. Although it sounds like there may be other approaches (?depending on the year of manufacture), my '87 560 SL's is thus: Lift up on the forward (front) edge with each hand, and then pull the shelf forward and free. There is a horizontal, center located, clip on the back wall of that compartment that the shelf simply slides into, and then in the front drops into two simple verticle clips, each near the semilunar hand hold cutouts.

I could have figured this out myself, had I been willing to force things a bit, but the cost of repairs of these things is daunting.
So, I post this for the benefit of the other members who tried to help me out.
