Well, having followed the 0-60 time listings in various mags over the years, the early 300 was in the 9s somewhere, while the early 500s were around 6.1 with the 600 at 5.7. (Later 500s were a few 10ths slower, due to a HP decrease.) Anyone got an old "Car" or something else that published these stats?

Comprehensive specifications for the 300SL and 500SL were published in the July/August '89 issue of the MBCA Star magazine. Zero-to-sixty is 6.2 seconds for the 500SL and 8.4 seconds for the 300SL.
Motor Trend got a zero-to-sixty of 9.1 seconds for a 300SL with automatic transmission as published in the December '89 issue. They commented that is was a bit sluggish off the line. Last edited by bobterry99; 09-01-2002 at 02:08 PM. |
