SL 129 Hard Top

HELP!!! Only the 2 rear pins are releasing our 1990 300SL hard top - the front 2 won't budge! New problem - it has always worked before. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, Craig

According to M.B. Doc...

"The front lock elements... is the cause of most hyrdaulic R129 soft top problems!" See This topic comes up alot on the SL forum>>>. You can do some basic troubleshooting which may confirm the front lock elements are the source of your trouble. I have the diagnostic manual for the convertible top system and can assist you if you like.

There is a way to release them by hand. Read your owner's manual. It is all there.

Craig, try to release the top when the weather and the car are cool, this seems to make a difference on my car. Otherwise, you can use the supplied allen wrench (or equivalent) to unlatch the bow locks by hand. Eli.
