I get about 14 around town and 16 on the road in my 500SL. However, I can honestly say I seldom drive to achieve good mileage when driving it.

MPGs
If this is any help, I have a 72 SLC 3.5, 4 speed auto, 4:02 rear gear. Was getting 13-14 around town and barely 19 Hwy. Put a product on by the name of direct hits and mpgs went to consistant 17 in town and 21 hwy. These babies put out like 10,000 more spark to your plugs. Everything went up, power, torgue, mpgs. Best investment I have made in this old German wife. With a taller gear you should see excellent results.
