finding the hard to find and replacement items

now i have a few questions on finding factory restoration stuff. first my 72 350sl does not have wood trim. but on the heater area on the center console there are 2 small squares with some on / off black plastic window plates that get lit up when you turn that option on. i don't remember just now what they say. but i need to replace them. where do i go for that kind of stuff. one is still ok the other one fell out cause it was cracked. i kept all the pieces so i know what it says and it's size. i also want to replace the floor mats. in 72 did the floor mats come with the 350sl logo on them?? and one last thing. i would like to redo all the rubber gaskets for the doors and the removable roof. any ideas where i can get this kind of stuff as well? thanks much! craig

The console pieces may be tough to find. For the gaskets and seals, try clicking on FastLane above, then Online Catalog, select your year, make, and model. Then search for 'seal'. Pay particular attention to 'Door Seal' and 'Roof Seal'.

If you are willing to part with your money, you can always purchase an OEM console and other items from Mercedes. You can contact the Mercedes Classic Center and order one. Your local dealer should have all the contact information for the Classic Center, if not call MBUSA directly.

Talking

jerry, many thanks for the websites. they seem to have the stuff i'm looking for. i'm working on both of the mbz i have. neither need much work at all as you can see from the foto of the 350sl.

elau, what is this mb classic and how can i contact them on the web?

maheath, i've been looking for sources. just looking around on ebay has given me several mb parts houses but it seems not one has everything.

i've been buying every factory manual i can get as well as advertizing lit. i've decided to keep the sl exactly as it is now with no aftermarket items. i'll just fix the factory item or replace it with an exact duplicate factory item.

again thanks to all. but if you find more info let me know.

These are lights (LED) on the climate control panel. One was a "fasten seatbelts" and the other let you know when your a/c was on. E-mail your address to me and I'll mail you the Seatbelt one. (I just replaced my old cracked vinyl panel with a wood one from www.capitolwest.com and still have that piece).

Good luck
