Top switches on my 1990 300 SL

Last week I had the left rear soft top latch assembly replaced on my 1990 300 SL. That was added to replacing both front soft top latches back in June as well as the rear bonnet micro switch.

I've heard about problems with switches on these early 129 models, but this was my first experience. I'm curious. Are there others out there who have had siimilar problems. Those switches are really expensive.
