Talking 380SL Hardtop question

Last weekend my next door neighbor and I put on the hardtop on my 380SL for the first time. We did everything according to the manual, but afterwards I noticed that there is about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch gap between the chrome strip at the back of the top and the car body. Is this normal? If not can it be adjusted? There isn't any wind noise, rattles etc. I had the car washed and no water gets in the car from the gap either

as far as I know, that's normal, because there's a thick rubber seal that it is pushing on. just make sure tho that the big lever is pushed all the way tight.

And it is adjustable

The top is adjustable for rear deck clearance by the two nuts on the bottom of the rear locking tabs. There is supposed too be a gap. If it fits well and doesnt leak or rattle it is probably fine.

In fact, if it's too tight, you'll have metal on metal in a place or two and rub paint or chrome.
