windshield insignia question
The question I have is about the windshields insignia. I have a 1981 euro 280sl. It's my first Mercedes, and it's really a fun car to drive. Last fall I Purchased from original owner. It came from Luxembourg. My SL does not have the mercedes/Daimler windshield insignia on the passenger side. I've noticed on most other mercedes, they have one. Is this because it's a euro model, or could it be the original windshield was replaced?
Thanks as always for your help in advance.

I think it may have been replaced... I have one, but it's dried out and cracking. they could have removed the sticker too

I believe you can identify the orginal windshield by looking to see if the three pointed star is stamped on the passenger side lower corner.

I've had mine replaced twice. Both times the aftermarket windshield has had a mercedes star stamped in the corner. I have no idea how to tell if the windshield might be original (no real likely), but you can usually get the stickers from your local dealership's parts counter.

You can probably tell if the windshield has been busted out by taking out the carpet insert underneath one of your seats. They almost never vacuum up 100% of the little pieces of glass, and some work their way underneath.
