SLC louver glass

I need correct technical information about a feature of the 450SLC rear/side louver assemblies. Does the tinted pane of glass go toward the inside or the outside? Different opinions can be heard, with most people saying that the tint belongs on the inner pane. However, the appearance of the glass is more consistent, window-to-window, if the tinted pane is on the outside. Is either way acceptable, or is there a correct method?
