In 1978, your car sold for approximately $25,000 and only 7,434 of them were made for model year 1978. Now if you want to know EXACTLY what you car cost, just contact MB and give them the vin number and they can provide to you a copy of the original invoice for free. I did this for my first Benz '80 300SD and then my current Benz which in 1983 cost exactly $34,612.

I'm old enough to remember looking at a brand new 1975 450SL with a window sticker of $16,500. Exorbitant.
