Help! no oil pressure

While I was driving around town today I noticed the oil pressure gauge on my 94 SL500 was reading zero... but the oil pressure light was not lit. The engine appears to be running ok (no knocks, etc,.) and the oil level is correct. I suspect (I hope!) that it's just a bad sending unit. Does anybody know where this sending unit is located??

I think I found the oil pressure sender. Does anyone out there know how to test it? Thanks.

No just replace it. I have had my oil pressure sender replaced twice. They can get exposed to extreme heat and pressure exceeding 100 pounds per square inch. Once you plug the new sensor in, make sure that it pressurizes immediately w/ no leaks. If it is still at 0, have your car towed to mechanic. Could have a intermittant problem with your oil pump.

On my SL500 (94) it is located just below the oil filter on the pass side of the engine. You can access it easily from under the engine. It takes a 17mm open end wrench to remove.
