Where Is The Main Vacuum Connection on 380SL

I have the Road Kill 380SL running and driving with it's new double-chain euro spec motor, and am now starting to straighten out some of the problems it has accumulated. First up is heat and defrost. Problem: no vacuum to the system.

There is a large grey vacuum line that runs across the firewall from a series of Y connectors on the left side. This is obviously the main vacuum line but it is not connected to anything. How/where does it connect to the engine?

The diagram/picture in the manual implies it is off the main fitting for the brake booster, but there is no connector there.

There is a vacuum source in that area, but it connects to the transmission and to a Y with one side going to the fuel damper and the other underneath the manifold.

Second question - where is the vacuum tank shown in the diagram?

I have had many adventures getting the car back on the road and will do a post on them!

TIA on the vacuum connection and tank location.

the vacume connects at the back of the engine where the hard line goes to the transmission. the tank is under the right fender.
I'm going to unhook mine at the manifold soon
to see if some carbon is plugging it, because i have to let off on the gas to let it upshift 2/3&3/4 when cold, and always when changing heater selections.
I can't find any leaks.
Happy hunting,
Don

Thanks for the info. I had it all wrong. I think I have it right now, with vacuum to the cabin off the transmission fitting. The little vacuum gauge now works!

Now when I push the buttons on the climate control, I can hear the flaps moving, but the fan does not come on. At least now I have something to work with.

My minimum goal is to get defrost working since it is needed for the VA safety inspection.
