HINDSIGHT Plastic Window Restorer?

Anyone used this product and if so, is it worth the price?

Plastic Restorer

I haven't tried it Dom but I have another product in my garage that i am reluctant to use. I'll provide the name on my next post.

The real question is: Is the rear window on the 560SL plastic or vinyl.

If plastic than plastic restorer, If vinyl, What kind of vinyl restorer is out there.

I too would like to hear from some who have attempted rear window restoration.

If the problem is that the window turned white, use alcohol to get the white out.

This thread discusses plastic headlight cover cleaning, and has a link to a thread about a company that makes products for polishing aircraft plastic windows.

Thats the name!

Micro-Mesh! That is the product I have in the garage. All that I have read indicates this stuff works. Even folks on this site seem to like it.

Again, my reluctance stems from the same question: Is the rear window Vinyl or Plastic, and does it make a difference when using these types of cleaners/restorers?

Still looking for someone who has done a rear window on a SL?

I have the "Operations & Care of SL Tops" guide, that comes with a 560sl, here with me and the last page has instructions on care and cleaning of the soft top. The last line of the page states:

"--Minor scratches or a light surface haze in the plastic windows can be removed with a cleaner/polisher designed for use on plastic. Such products are available at auto parts stores."

so, at least with respect to the 560sl, the window is plastic -- my guess is that it is that way for the whole 107 series. Keep in mind that your top might have been replaced and an aftermarket top might not have a "plastic" window. You could always try the cleaner on a small area of the window as a test.

Plastic Window

Finally. the rear window question answered.

Many, many thanks for taking the time to research that item.

Based on the response, I belive the Micro-Mesh will do the trick!

Again, thank you!

Dom! this should help you. I'll let you know what happens when I give it a try!

keep me posted please

Tom

thanks and please let me know how the micromesh stuff works out.....

I'd been using a plastic cleaner/polisher combination that seems to do ok but I want something that also "lubricates" the plastic in order to keep it pliable and less prone to cracking and such.

As an aside, I did a search on the Net last night and the boatowners out there with plastic windows (which I am assuming are similar to our softtop windows) seem to swear by the use of Pledge as a cleaner of plastic windows! anyone hear of this or tried it on a softtop's windows?
