500SL hard to shift foot from gas to brake? Or just my imagination?

Ive been noticing with my new SL that unless I position my foot just right it rubs a lot against the bottom of the dash/console and I cant make a smooth transition from gas to brake, etc. I have checked it and it seems to be bolted on right. Is this just how the SL's are? It's not like I have a huge foot at size 11.

Just an annoyance though....

Haven't noticed (I wear a size 10), but I'm 5' 11".

The seats have a nice variety of positions to experiment with. Try lowering the seat cushion.

Thank goodness for seat memory...from what I gather, my wife's optimal driving position is using the steering wheel as a teething ring!

Spinedoc,
I noticed the same problem in my 450slc. I am 6' and size 11 shoe and have trouble moving my foot across to the brake when I wear a steel toe work shoe. I now only wear running shoes or loafers when I drive the car. Still, a man really shouldn't drive a Mercedes while wearing a work boot anyway.

When I wear my dress shoes, which is nearly every day, I dont notice it as much. But when I have my Nike;s on, like going to the gym, thats when it really becomes a bit of a nuisance. "Pointing" my foot and switching that way makes things almost normal, but I wish I could just naturally place my foot and make the gas/brake transition.

I wonder how Shaq does driving his SL55.

I know exactly what you mean!!! I wear 12 1/2 or 13 (depending on make of shoe) and it's really freaking annoying!!! I'm 6'1" and even with the seat all the way down and back, my feet always rub against the under part of the dash. I would take it off, but I don't want to pull any wires with my foot or anything.
