Question cracked plastic rear window in soft top

Hi all,, ,

In a week or so it's time for the SL500 to see the swedish daylight again. The soft top seems to be the original one so the plastic window has a horizontal mark from wearing. Close to the edge of the rear window at one side it's cracked and a little hole has formed. My plan is to chage the soft top next winter so my question is if anyone has managed to mend the plastic window in any way?? Like with some liquid plastic or glue.

ideas??

I would try small pieces of clear duct tape rather than glue. One on the inside, and one on the outside.

You make have trouble finding it because we in the Washington DC area have bought up the world's supply for our "safe rooms."

:-)

Had mine crack ALL the way across the middle one winter for no apparent reason.

After some deliberation, I got MB to take on the burden of the cost of replacement (bought used only six months earlier), but until then, I used transparent packing tape. It didn't impair rear vision, and it held up solidly with no leaks! I would guess it would have held up permanently except that the rear quarter was eventually replaced...

Thanks for the replies guys, ,,

Don't the tape tend to turn white?? Maybe this is the way to go. I'll give it a try.

Thanks again!
