Question Drooping Sun Visors

I know there has been some postings on falling sun visors but mine stay up fine on my 86 560 until the wind blows accross them, then they fall . It's only happening with the top down. Is there a permanent solution to this. I hate driving with one hand holding up the visor so it doesn't hit me in the face. Thanks all....
Larry

if you have a restoration car then you can put some shims in the bracket to tighten it up ie thin cardboard, tape even glue thin sandpaper for gripping
i have a 82 380sl and the visors were shot.
i removed the old visors and head trim and replaced the visors with the stiffer newer visor from a 190 or 300 series with lighted mirror.
you can take out the mirror unit go to radio shack, get a 9 volt plug to accept a 9 volt battery solder that into the mirror and replace in visor. you can use the new clips in the old spot .
if you want you can wire the mirror to the dome lights but then you have to turn on the dome lights to use the mirror light.
you have to enlarge the hole on the front bar bar frame to accept the new visor. then you have to be careful and bend the visor after being screwed into the clip.
this has worked very well for me the visors look get not yucky like the originals, but my car has a new replacement engine and can never be restored to original.
sometime to think about.
you can get good used visors on ebay for about 25-30 but make sure you ask for the clips because they are different than the original and expensive to buy

sun visors

Well I read the old posts. Did what they said and tried to remove the plastic trim piece after finding the hidden screw that held it in place. It wouldn't come off. I had two options, leave it alone or yank it off. I decided to yank. It came off the old glue was holding it in place. I tightened it up and it held. The only casuality being the little dome light clip broke. I guess that's what next to replace. I wonder how much that is.....

Go to the dealer. they're only about $2 apiece. You should have 4 on your car, 2 on the windshield header, one in the glove box and one in the passenger footwell.

these visors are a big pain in the ass! they are a poor design. way to bulky and heavey.. does anyone want to look in a lighted mirror that bad! LOL

I think we all have stories about speeding down the road with one hand on the visors!

but if you ask mercedes they tell you nothing is wrong! LOL
