Cool Just want to share the feeling

Thought I should add a pic of my SL500 and remind the other SL-owners at the forum that the summer is here!

You misrepresent yourself!!! If summer was really here you would have the hard top down!!

Great looking SL bro! Glad you are enjoying it.

The picture is from last spring,, That's how I got reminded. Took it for the first ride of the year yesterday after changing distributor caps and rotors. I'm gonna have a cupple of pictures taken as soon as I can get the weather to "smile". Then you'll see it without the hardtop on and with the new tail lights.

PJG56 - Its just a matter of Photoshop work Got the picture right at 66k.

Spinedoc - It's not the darker ones. It's the post-1996-ones. (At least I think it was '96 that they upgraded the tail lights) they are much smoother shape and a bit darker red than the previous ones. The yellow parts is also of a red tone. I will follow up this post with the new pictures as soon as I get them taken and you'll see.

It's possible. Hard to tell from that little image. I've got the new ones mounted on my car and the old ones stored in my garage so I will see to it that a closeup of the different tail ligts will be posted on this post.

Let me try this again...

my 97 sl500 sport pkg 1 on AMG monoblocks bears remarkable resemblance except for Wald accessories.

If my memory serves me correctly, the tail light lenses were changed in '99, along with the outside mirrors. Neither is a big change; fairly subtle unless you have a '99 and a '98 parked beside each other. The grooves in the tail lenses were smoothed considerably---they have a rounded cross section instead of the square corners on the '98-back. The rear view mirrors are more rounded.

travis129 - That sounds like the description of my tail light lenses. However, , I think I used the registration number from a SL from 97 when I ordered the new lenses. Maybe it was different i Europe (Sweden).

den500SL - Much better. They look like mine but it's hard to be sure without looking at mine at the same time. Not sure if I recognize the well marked white parts for the reverse light though...
