Anyone made the transition?

Anyone here made the transition from the R129 to the new model? While I am very happy with my car, the first slightly-used new models are starting to appear here, at about 20-25% off the new price, making it possible for my budget. I would have to live without the small kiddy seats I have, but the kids are getting older in any case... Impressions anyone?

It's funny Momo, I luv'em up close but from a bit of a distance I mistake them for an SLK with only side chrome grill telling me my mistake.

I've planned my next two cars. Three years with this SL, then a Lexus SC430 then a 2003 SL.

I'd get a 2003 but I always try to minimize my depreciation loss.

Decisions, decisions...

Well, I looked at buying a new CLK500 convertible, to be able to have four seats. Seems like a step down, so I have some inexplicable mental difficulty with it. I suppose the Lexus could be on the list, but the nearest dealer is 35 miles away, vs. 4 for MB. In any case, I decided to replace the station wagon first. I arranged to fill in the forms tomorrow. I need the 4-matic for going to the Alps each weekend. The delivery is 8 months on the 320 4-matic wagon I want.

Here MB sales guys track the usual selling patterns of the people who buy the high-end cars. There will be an early '01 SL500 for sale at the end of 2004 in the colors I would like. Timing might be to soon, unless the stock market improves a bit...

one of my clients has a silver one.(best choice)
love the idea of a folding hardtop without the slk emblem on it.
so farr he loves the car , his wife drives it mostly. he is nervous about repair bill for hardtop.have to standby for things to come.
i looked at one MB Manchester NH. 02 silver $97,352 and no cents haha. sales person told me a waiting time of 6 month.if i pay cash (again hahah)
i would say 5 years and used.

Silver...

Silver may look good, but it is too common, except for one I saw with the red interior. Can't see the point of all these black interiors. I like dark outside, light inside. No accounting for taste. Local MB dealer has an "all options" '01 model with 11k miles, dark green outside, black inside, for $95k. I suspect my final budget will be $65-70k, so it means waiting a couple of years.
