IR remote key refuses to program

Hi all

Back to the IR remote problems again! I've searched the Sl forum but haven't found any applicable info, so here goes.....


I have two IR keys for my 500SL '93 - one larger grey key (guess it's the original as it looks similar to the picture in the manual, and a smaller black IR key. The black one works the locks fine - all normal, but my grey remote fails miserably.

I can see the reg glow and by firing the remote at a video camera can 'see' the IR actually emitting, so I know that's fine but after following the 're-programming' instruction in the manual - still nothing.

Has anyone any further suggestions?? ....much appreciated

Learoy, both of my remotes work very erratically. Sometimes only the key works in one of the doors, sometimes all of the locks work, sometimes the red/green lights just stay on.

Keep meaning to get it checked but never get around to getting the job done.

Looks like it's off to MB then - see what they say. I'll keep you posted for reference.
