300SL rear diff

Advice should I rebuild my rear diff that is leaking or replace it with one from salvage yard. I will be taking it off and putting back on myself. I am not able to rebuild the old one. I am told that they leak due to wear on shafts.

Thanks Joe

I don't know anything about the differentials in Mercedes, but I own a 91 300SL with about 100K miles. So, I'm interested to see how guys respond here. I would think that gaskets and seals would be replaceable and that a rebuild would be possible. Getting a used differential from a "yard" is an option of course. How many miles on your vehicle? Tod
