Please help

Can somebody please help out? I am having alot of trouble fitting my hard top on my 82 500SL.
I am not sure how far the striker at the rear that clips into the hole at the back of the hard top cover, is supposed to stick out and whether or not it is supposed to have a lock nut on it.
Mine just keeps turning in and then the roof won't secure properly. I just can't seem to get it right.

I have posted the question before but to no avail

Winter is well on me here in Australia and I still cant use my hard top..

Regards

Damian

Damian, would have to check my top to give you details, but I can at least tell you that the hook on the post mounted to the top needs to face directly to the right side of the car (passenger's for us, driver's in Oz). If it doesn't the latch won't engage it.

Damian,

The locking box can be adjusted up or down, may be if you raise it, you'll hook it.

Thanks for the replies.

I have adjusted the locking mechanism and it works well for the soft top, although my hard top doesn't. It looks as if the last owner has also cut the rear rubber seal down to try to make it fit. Looks like I'll be getting a new seal, but I would still like to know which lenght to adjust the striker on the hard top to does anyones have a lock nut on it to hold it to the desired height.
