sel engine switched in to an sl, VIN #?
I needed to replace my sl block because the cylinders were to scoured. I decided it would be better to replace the whole engine. The yard that sold me the engine said it came from a sl but after receiving it, my mechanic said it was from a SEL and he had to switch out the oil pan a long with all the other bolt ons. Is this the same engine? The car runs great, except the a/c doesn't work now. Is there anyway to match the engine number with the VIN# if you don't have the VIN?

Yeah the oil pans are different, but the engine is pretty much the same. Except if you crack your SL oil pan which is one piece a new one is like 1500 dollars. The SEL has a two piece oil pan.
Do you have the SEL pan left over?
