Driver-side seat problems
Dear All:
Posted this on the general tech forum but no replies...anyone have any ideas? Driver-side seat reclines whilst driving I have a couple of minor problems with the driver-side seat on my 1986 560SL. Specifically, the seat reclines whilst driving, albeit very slowly, so that every 20 minutes I have to crank the seat back up to its original position. Also, the height adjustment feature is not working, in that I can’t raise or lower the seat’s height (in fact I can’t actually move the seat height control lever at all). Anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated, Ryan Potts |

The height adjustment may be a matter of accumulated grundge in the mechanism; removing the seat isn't a big deal, involving four bolts as I recall from old threads. A search will get you directions; outside of this board, check **************.com, which has directions on their site as I recall.
No specifics I can give on the seatback angle issue, but you'll be able to remove the back from the hinges with the seat out; if nothing else, replacing the mechanism should be easy at that point. I'll defer to more expert sources for fixes short of that.

Hi Craig:
Thanks for the advice. I actually went ahead and ordered the seat manual from **************.com, so hopefully I'll be able to figure it all out. Thanks again, Ryan |
