Installed a wood dash kit!
After a couple of months of looking, I finally purchased a Burlwood dash kit from "WoodDashFactory.com" out of Florida. I looked at what everyone else had to offer and decided on their kit because of price ($400) and the number of pieces that came with it (20). Most of the other kits only came with the small dash pieces, ac control panel, ashtray and gear shift panel.
This kit had all of that plus the gauge pieces, console piece under the armrest and 2 long door panel pieces as well. Overall impressions: quality is excellent, a little bit of a Red tinge to the color, very flexible as it is mounted into a plastic backing,... I like the way they did the ashtray...one large piece under the ashtray "handle" and a small strip across the handle,...I didn't like the rounded portion of the gear shift panel, it had 3 small pieces that were placed on top of each other to form the bend (I fixed that!),...and I really liked the way they made the AC control panel, they made small cut outs where all of the writing is(..looks good)! Overall, I'm very pleased with it and it was easy to install! You just clean all surfaces with alcohol and then peel off the 3M tape on back. Very easy and fits very well. I also purchased a burlwood handle from Performance Products and that kind of "completed" the look! Mike |

Craig, it's for the 450 SL. I would take and post some pictures but I'm packing to go to Iraq! I just wanted to get it in before I left. Being in the military does have it's disadvantages!!!!! Wish me luck!
Mike I will see all of you when I get back. It's supposed to be for 6 months...but who knows?!?!?!?! |

Best wishes on your tour, Mike -- take care of yourself! Let us know when you are back and behind the wheel of your SL.
See if you can find out if there is an SL at one of those palaces. Probably too classy of a car for Saddam. Safe travels to you!

Thanks Dan! I just got back from a one year unaccompanied tour to the Sinai in Egypt. Now, 2 months later and I'm heading out again! I'm not too happy about it and the wife is REALLY NOT HAPPY!!!!! Oh well...duty calls!
I will try to keep up with you guys once I'm in country. I hear that they do have some internet capabilities now. I hope so...I can only go so long without my SL Forum!!!! Mike
