Question R12 to R134 conversion

Has anyone done this on their car. I am looking at some of the cost for parts on these cars and it would be close to 1k just to replace parts. Plus labor and cost to evacuate and recharge 134. Are y'all repairing leaks and continueing to use R12 or converting the system. I am pretty sure the leak on my car is in the hose, 350+ dollars, but otherwise system is ok. I have a 75 SLC. I might have to cut off the top and drop the C on the badge!

Use the search feature. There are endless discusions on this subject by many who have done the conversion. R134 doesn't get nearly as cold as R12. I'd stay with R12 if it's reasonable cost wise.

There was some threads recently on some new freon called Megacool or Ultra cool or some such catchy name. It was cheap as dirt and cood as a mother in law's love. Search for 'too good to be true'.
