Man , reading this i feel like i have peaked early at 27.... the general age for most owners here in 35-40..... i have SL320 01 model bought jan 06.
JJ how the you running a 5 ltr V8 here in the UK... you must have a filling station in your back garden...... at nearly 93p per litre you must have a big fuel bill at the end of each month...... fair play to you though for jumping in there with the 500..

27's the right age for your first SL, I was 26 back in March 2003 when I got mine. The insurance was, um, expensive. But now I'm heading for middle age (30 this year), it's not too bad.

It's the maintenance and not just the fuel that kills me. I run a BMW 120d during the week, commuting 60 miles a day I have to. Even that costs me GBP200 a month in fuel. The SL I only fill up about three times a month, more come the summer, but even that runs to GBP175 or so.

Age is only in the mind

Middle aged at 30!!!!! not likely:(

I'm 58 and I'm not middle aged yet,

Seriously though I think that anyone buying an SL has got to have a mental age of about 19 and a bank ballance of a 50 year old.

Enjoy it while you can

cheers

I'm 66, will soon be 67. Since I have two SL's, that makes only 33 per car!
:) :)

45 with and '84 380SL, purchased last year as a toy. My experience with the 380SL led to purchase of 300TE wagon and 300E recently for work partner.

These aging MBs are an incredible car value, even if they do need TLC frequently.

30 - first SL was a '72 R107 350SL when I was 26 - on my 2nd R129 SL500. Am in the UK in Surrey.
