In March I will be 60!
In September 04 bought a 1990 500 sl white w palamino. 60 k miles. Didn't want all the bells and whistles on later models. My 2nd sl, first was a 1980 450. This is my 6th benz since 1977. Short story: Dad liked cars never had any money. Mom was frugal. In the year dad passed mom told me she was going to suprise him with a benz (diesel of course) for Christmas because he always drove a beater. Took me about 15 years to save the money then I bought a 300 d. Been owning and driving a benz since. Taught me a lesson and summed up by an expression I like. "Life is too short to drink the house wine all the time." 59 and going topless |

Am going to be 43 this year, bought my first 350 SL (107) when i was 34 and changed it for a 300SL (129) when i was 38. Would have got one even earlier if i could have afforded it at the time....because they cost a fortune out here in Malaysia...Ha! Ha!

age
I'm 22, and own an 87 560 SL. I love the car. I've never owned a car which wasn't a convertible, so it's a good fit. I drive it everyday, and I'm a Realtor so it sees the road a lot. Makes business fun.

Let's see, I will be 63 next month. Last year I finnaly scatched the itch for an SL. Actually, stoped at a dealer and bought a ML320 for my wife. This 560SL was just sitting there with a lonely look on the grille....so I took it home with me.
We have a bunch of SL's down here south of Tucson. Actually got into a stoplight contest with some old fart (must have been in his late 70's) in a 380SL. The 560 sure kicks up a whole lot of tire smoke when you romp on it. :D (anyone wanna guess the outcome) We put geritol and viagra in the gas tanks of these old beasts. |
I'm 18 months older than I was when I first responded to this thread! :)

Well, I'm 46 (the average from what I've seen), but I feel like a teenager in my SL! ;) My plan is to have the engine and transmission rebuilt and then in 8 years when I retire to have it shipped to L.A. and then take route 66 to Chicago. I'll be 54 and my SL will be 28.
When I got my SL 4 years ago my dad asked if I was getting any more women... I replied, "No, but I seem to be getting a lot of teenage boys in Camaros that want to race me!" |
Am 35 but i havent grown up yet...and neither has the car.
its an SLK. which means i shouldn't be on here...but what the heck. Maybes when I grow up I can have a grown up car. :) |
Age is so relative
Pushing 56. In September I was diagnosed with cancer in an advanced state. Thought then and there, there is little use in waiting for the future, have some fun now. Found a nice (not mint but servicable) 81 380sl with 175K on the clock, new soft top, tires and a double chain conversion. Bought it for 2,750.00 and gave it to wife for her birthday. I doubt seriously if the drivers seat will get pushed back to my position very often.
I am battling the cancer and look forward to many top down rides in GrayC (my wife came up with the name) Jef Fulton Alexandria, VA |

I'm very sorry to hear that! My brother was diagnosed with Multiple Myoloma back in September. His cancer is likely a result of exposure to benzine. Keep up your hope, and don't give up the fight..................BB |

Will be 70 in July and bought our 87 560SL in Sept 02. Bought on E-Bay and not too many problems so far. Have worked on the ourside temp sensor, bought replacement sensor from electronic store but still not installed. VLP
