Location
Kingsburg, California- Right in the middle of the state, in the middle of the San Joaquin Valley, about halfway between LA & SF, about 20 miles south of Fresno. Big city of almost 10k people.
Lived here all of my 31 years, and to my knowledge, the only SL owner in town. |
Beautiful Bismarck, North Dakota. Yes, it's cold here in the winter, but summers are mild with warm days, cool evenings and low humidity, perfect for our non-air conditioned Euro 280SL. In the winter, the Benz is now only driven on days when the roads are free of snow and ice (and we do have those days from time to time!).
My wife and I just took a 300 plus mile drive around Lake Sakakawea (Missouri River reservoir) on Saturday. We put the top down in Garrison and did the rest of the trip (about 230 miles) topless. What a beautiful trip in a terrific car! John. |

Falls Church VA - about eight miles west of the White House.
Named after our church (The Falls Church (Episcopal). George Washington was among several distinguished people who served on the Vestry. Also home to Tallwood, home of Woodrow Wilson. Koons Ford sits on a hill that was traded back and forth between the Confederate and Union forces several times. We found a Civil War cannonball in our backyard. Diane and I are both from Seattle and moved east in 1979. |
My home is Toronto, Canada.
I am spending this winter in Victoria, British Columbia where I am very pleased to see so many 380's and 560's on the streets. Great place for older cars thanks to the mild west coast climate. |
I'm a long-time resident of the Chicago area, but have since been frightened away to Phoenix by the harsh winters.

Grand Rapids, MI--from which Chicago is the nearest outpost of urban civilization. We were there this weekend, in fact, taking in Second City and Blue Man Group. Was looking out onto Michigan Avenue from our room at the Allerton this morning, thinking about how to combine a toy car with, let's say, a Lincoln Park life in which parking is one of the major investments, along with housing.
Usually it's about three hours back--ran almost four today, and you Chicagoland folks will know why! |
It snowed -- but it is my guess that lake-effect on the east side of Lake Michigan was a greater cause of your delay than getting out of Chicago (the city where if the streets aren't cleared of snow the mayor loses his job :p ).
You weren't in your SL were you? The drive from GR to Chicago in the summer in the SL would be wonderful -- try driving LSD to Sheridan all the way up through Highland Park one day, top down -- that's what an SL is for. best regards and happy new year! |
Odenton, MD. We call it Ground Zero. Since NSA and Fort Meade is just a few miles down the road. Not to mention all the highly guarded no name Government builders all over the area.
Surrounded by horse country (Millersville) and farmland (Davidsonville). 15 miles to Annapolis and 25 miles to DC. Try to stay away from Baltimore which is 25 miles away as well. Great place to live, BWI is in easy reach. So is Northern VA, and skii resorts in Western MD. Can be in Philly in 2.5 hrs and NYC in 3. |
Elau:
I have a good mechanic in Odenton. Gary is the "G" of G&S Automotive. He's worked on every car I own, even the Benz, and won't try to kill you on price, either! |
G&S is at 1868 Jackson Grove Road.

I am from Stuttgart Germany, moved to the US in 1998.
The wife is from PA. Now we live in Dover, PA, about 20 miles south of Harrisburg. |
