Where do you live?

To borrow a page from Ken Silver's book -- let us know what region, state, city, country, etc. -- you live in.

Last weekend Lowmile, another member here, and I met up for a brief get-together and we thought it would be nice to have others join in -- but niether one of us knew any other SL owners in the North Suburban Chicago region.

This post will also provide an opportunity for other more informal get togethers in your areas.

No need for specific addresses!

I am in Deerfield, Illinois USA -- which as noted above, is North Suburban Chicago.

My folks live in my hometown of Springfield, Illinois...I'm an "Illini" college graduate.

Keller is a bit east of Fort Worth Texas...and I'm slowly losing my Midwestern drawl and taking on a Texas attitude...got some boots and a cowboy hat, and seriously looking at pickup trucks! :p

No, I'm not thinking of strapping longhorns on the grille of ANY of my vehicles!

I'm originally from Champaign -- a fellow 217 area coder -- and an Illini too!

Great idea DanielG! I've found the age and occupation answers to be a fascinating insight to the people on this forum, and this is a great geography lesson too.

As my sig shows, I'm in New Zealand, a small country of 3.5 million that sits below and off to the side of Australia, but is not part of it.

As many people might know we produced Lord Of The Rings, the world beating All Black rugby team. Lord Rutherford (who split the atom) was born here, a local farmer built the Pearce aircraft which is thought to be the first powered flight about a year before the Wright Bros - but was not documented and so is in some doubt - and we're home to the rare Kiwi, a flightless bird native only to us.

Wellington is the capital city with a population of around 900,000, and we're a very hospitable bunch of people of mainly English descent. The city is very similar to San Francisco in geography (without the bridge, and much smaller), as it bounds an attractive harbor.

My wife and I live in an area at the top of the hills, at 995ft above sea level according to my trusty GPS, and have magnificent panoramic views sweeping the harbor. The view is the thing that keeps us here, rather than go up the coast where the climate is warmer.

I've attached a photo taken from our lounge. The main city is out of picture off to the right. Unfortunately I couldn't include the SL in the view.

But to keep everything sort of on topic - I love living on a high hill because it lessens the wear on my SL engine when it is cold at the start of a trip. At the end of a run of course it's warm and can take the climb with no trouble.

South East England. Rochford to be exact. Home of Anne Boleyn, wife of King Henry VIII. About 40 miles east of London if anyone fancies dropping by for a beer.

Aurora, IL

Older city which grew from railroad town, now second largest in Illinois with 120K+ inhabitants. Heavily ethnic, mostly working class folks in core of town. Affluent professional families in newer development on fringes of town. Not immune to crime or other problems that plague similar or larger cities. Oh yes, built on scenic and meandering Fox river which makes for great spring and fall drives or bike rides. For more information -

And to fellow Illinois and Wisconsin members - I welcome to opportunity to meet and go on drives with you.

north side of san diego, next to del mar, off the 56 fwy. Fun place to live, weather's usually nice. I know there's a few benz guys here, but I don't think they have SL's.

Davidsonville, Md., (horse country), about 6 miles from Annapolis; right in the middle between Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Md. (each about 25 miles away).

(we have one stoplight and one country store/gas station)

Too amazed for words but I'd love to join you for a pint as there's a fantastic new barmaid in Anne lately - I know her too ;-)

Northumberland: north east England. Bit of a trek from anywhere, but that's why I like it here. This is a local shot of my car, on the road to nowhere in particular.

Ingleside, Texas which is 10 miles across the bay from Corpus Christi, 200 miles south west of Houston, 150 miles south of San Antonio and about 20 feet from the end of the Earth.
