hard top/soft top wahing

When you wash your 107, do you usually wash it w/ the hardtop on, soft top up, topless?

What special care do you give to your soft top when washing?

I have a 129, but the same principles surely apply. I wash it with whatever top is on. When the soft top is on, I try to avoid wetting the top. I dry the top with my wash leather. Every once in a while I use a convertible top cleaner and proof it.

When the hard top is on, I wash the car as if it were a coupe, save that after drying and driving the car, I release the hardtop and wipe underneath it.

If I'm hand washing it, the top is usually down. If I want to clean the top, I use a shop-vac on it before wetting it down with clear water. Never use soap on your soft top.

I wouldn't take it through a drive-thru car wash unless I had the hard top on. I almost never have my hard top on anymore.

I handwash the car only--no power or commercial car washes. Usually I have the soft top down, though I have washed the soft top also a couple of times with clear water only. I've done it with the hardtop on also, drying under same with the edge of a towel, but my preference is with no top so as to get the top boot clean also.

worry about interior

You don't worry about getting the interior wet when washing w/o any top?

I sometimes wash mine top down and it's just a matter of being careful. Anyway, moisture won't do the interior any harm: I left my top down while in a meeting and it rained heavily without my knowledge, no damage done (although my backside was soaking when I later got home).

I wash with a Meguiar's wash product, lukewarm water, and a cotton chenille wash mitt--very controllable. Rinsing is with a gentle stream from a hose, no nozzle--also very controllable. Using a mild stream seems to help the wash chemistry allow the water to sheet off with easier, faster drying.
