How do you clean your 129 grille?

How do you clean the grille on your 129? Mine has some unsightly marks, like water marks. Neither cleaner wax nor metal polish works satisfactorily.

I have similar on my grille and haven't found a cure yet either! But my Meguiar polish bundle has just arrived  :D :D and so I might try 'ScratchX' on the grille to see.

I'll let you know this weekend.

But in the mean time I was almost considering purchasing a brand new one, but alas I need to buy a couple of soft top bawden cables first - £60+Vat each - oooouch! So the cosmetics might have to take a back stance for a while :(

There's a used grille on e-bay UK at the mo. It is the six bar version (Learoy, I think yours will have seven bars). The guy wants a 100 quid for it--and he says it has stone chips! Seems steep to me.

Yeah - LOL, spotted that one too. Not that I trawl ebay for SL things at all!

I'm not sure of the retail cost, but suspect that's quite harsh for a second-hand grille, especially with stone chips. Mine is immaculate - apart from those annoying stains, which do deteriorate with polish ;-)

BTW JJ - nice plate. It's my 30th soon (shoooosh) and I'm secretly hoping that my Mrs has bought me an LMR (my initials) as I mentioned it a while back and I notice that it now not available; of course I could be heading for a little disappointment of course

My plate was a birthday present, too. Bought from DVLA for £250. Couldn't have been easier.

Is that you buying brochures on e-bay?

 :D

JJ

For the grille I used ScratchX from Meguiar then replenished the surface with Gold Class Wax and it's restored the finish beautifully.

The wax was also great for the black plastic within the bonnet star. AutoGlym just never restored the plastic to a deep black gloss like it could.

I suspect that the nutrients and oils within Gold Class Wax is responsible - but perhaps we'll see in the long term.
