MB/Ford 280slc parts car
Just bought a 1979 Euro 280 slc parts car with auto trans and sun roof (those are odd on a Euro car). The strangest thing is that it has a 302 Ford engine in it. I must say that as crude as the work is, wires everwhere, etc., the engine fits in there as slick as can be. There is gobs of room for the bell housing (as opposed to that of a SMC 350 where you have to beat the trans. hump out with a shop hammer). The only problem I can see is that the oil filter on the driver's side is up against the frame. Looks like you might have to raise the engine to change the filter.
This car is strickly a parts car and I am open for requests for any parts. The exterior is a strange sort of a light rust color and the inside is cream. |

Do the SLC's have an upholstered piece behind each sunvisor?
My SL has a chunk out of the one on the passenger side, probably from the front top pins. I don't have a picture of it, but it's only about 1-2" high and a couple inches longer than the sun visor. |

KIP IS THERE ANY WAY THAT YOU COULD GET SOME PIC'S OF THIS I'D REALLY LIKE TO SEE IT I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS CONV. FOR A LONG TIME THE ONLY ONE I'VE SEEN THEY CUT AND BOXED THE SUB-FRAME TO LET THE OIL PAN WITH A REAR SUMP FIT IN I LOOKED INTO IT FUTHER AND FOUND THAT IN FACT 302'S OIL PUMP IS IN THE FRT. OF THE MOTOR AND A TUBE RUNS TO THE REAR MY THOUGHT WAS TO CUT THE OIL PAN HALF WAY DOWN AND TURN IT 180 AND RUN THE PICK TUBE STRAIGHT DOWN FROM THE PUMP THE WORST PART OF THE JOB WOULD BE WELDING THE PANBACK TOGATHER PIC.S OF WHATS GONE ON THERE WOULD REALLY HELP
