107 tailpipes

Is the rusting of the 107 tailpipes a common problem? I've replaced these tailpipes so many times and it is very costly. That's the only part of the car that is rusting. Any ideas?

No problem so far on my own, and not something I've seen other posters mention. Check out Timevalve for stainless steel replacements for the parts that keep rotting.

I have a '79 450 SL with the original exhaust on it. Haven't heard of issues with consistent rotting.

I would have to agree with checking out Timevalve, though. I have heard great things about there exhaust systems.

Good luck

The cold end on our '87 doesn't look good...tho it's holding for now. We'll see if it starts getting loud soon.

best,

Dave
