Smile Meet "Brownie"

This is "Brownie". She is a rare 1980 350SL "Euro" equipped only with power steering, power brakes, a/c and a radio. It is a 4-speed stick, crank windows, sports car and a thrill to own and drive.

Very nice!

I generally am not fond of "brown" as a car color, but in your case it looks quite tasteful!

I also like the cleaner lines of the Euro SLs, sans "porch terrace" bumpers...

A handsome car, indeed! Looks great as it was originally conceived to be.

DOT requirements when imported?

I see it has the US tail light lenses (red reflector on the side) - does it also have US (quad, round) headlights?

Any other US stuff?

"Brownie"

Yes...it does have the round quad headlights. The car was "dot'd" prior to 1984 and has that funky sticky on the driver's door pillar. Thanks for pointing out the USA taillights. I was not aware of that. It amazes me that it has no polution stuff (and also makes me like the car even more because it is so unencumbered).

If you have the round headlights, I would suggest getting E-codes if you want to keep the round look and have euro cutoff w/halogen bulbs... If you're interested, send me an E-mail and I can show you how to install them.

Robert: Thank you for the fine installation of headlights instructions on www.sl107.com. Well done. Someday I'll buy a set of those lights for Brownie.

Jim Sehl

Jim,

I'd love to see a pic of your headlight switch with the vacuum adjustment for moving the lights up and down. I'm trying to figure out where my vacuum switch goes.

Thanks
Blake
